I get it! You are looking to invite a complete stranger into your home and the first thing he is going to do is destroy one of the primary functioning spaces of your home. How disruptive will the construction chaos be? How long will it be before you have your functioning space back? What unknowns are lurking behind the walls that may affect time and cost? How much will it really cost?

For my customers the project start day is not demo day. It starts the first day we meet to discuss the project. I ask for feedback on what you like and what you dislike about your existing space. What ideas / vision do you have (pictures from magazines, Pinterest, ect.) that you would like to incorporate into the remodeled space.

From there I offer additional ideas / suggestions you may want to consider based on the many projects completed in the past. Then we review the pros, cons and cost variables of the choices we come up with to narrow down the final design concept that will work best for your needs.

Now we both have homework ….. I will put together a proposal with a step by step scope of work and a fixed price to include labor, expenses and misc. materials. You will have to go window shopping (my network of suppliers will be provided to you) for the fixtures and finishes that fit best for your style and the look you want to create.

The best part…… at this point all of the services I have provided are no charge and I understand that I most likely will be competing for the work with other contractors. I also understand that by performing this due diligence the customer will know if the quotes are “apples to apples” or “apples to oranges”.

When we agree to move forward we sit down to discuss the total project and create a plan to minimize the chaos, formalize a timeline, review options for possible unknowns and firm up a date to start the demo.

Throughout the project we will review the progress, verify and oversee material deliveries and address your questions. The pricing will not change from the original final proposal unless the scope changes and those pricing changes will be presented for approval prior to incurring any costs for them.
