When I had the opportunity to move my retail store into a new building, I knew that my counter system needed a total upgrade. A call to Don Evans proved to be the best move I made. Don spent considerable time working with me and my vision for the new location. He supervised and did much of the work on remodeling two bathrooms, a major upgrade to our kitchen, and numerous other projects aimed at modernizing the old house we bought in Syracuse. He served as general contractor—getting bids from plumber, electrician, and tile guys; arranging for permits and inspections; and supervising and coordinating their work as well as coordinating with the painters and floor refinishers we had contracted with separately. He did a brilliant job of staging all the work to minimize conflicts and made sure that everything was done right. He did an enormous amount of work modernizing our kitchen, building new drawers and cabinet fronts and installing a large range and vent hood. His attention to detail and craftsmanship was extraordinary. He also helped us with the myriad other little things that we figured out needed to be replaced or repaired. It was clear that he cared as much about our house as we did and he was very sensitive to our concern about cost.

Don is the best! I needed to convert a blank wall to a working office and studio, including hand-made shelving and counter space. He listened to my issues and concerns, came up with the perfect design to address all my needs, and even went shopping with me to make sure I had the correct measurements and accessories to make the project perfect. On time and on budget. What more can you ask for??

I own a 38" hand crafted model ship that is museum quality with over 30 sails and cannons. The ship was accidentally knocked over, breaking two of the largest masts and causing a mess with the ropes for the sails. Don was able to skillfully repair the ship's masts and ropes to mint condition and you cannot tell that there was ever a problem. Thanks for the help!"

It took a while for doors to be constructed and received from the manufacturer. We liked the final outcome and liked Mr. Evans work. He is a very congenial, friendly man. Once the doors were received he put them in quickly.

Looked over the kitchen space, took measurements, checked walls, and made a blueprint of the space so we can "do it ourselves". He also offered to come and instruct us on putting up cabinets, etc. Told us where to get deals on tiles and other things. He showed up on time and listened to what we wanted to do. We discussed options and then he started measuring. He got back to us with blueprints within 72 hours. He was friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent communication and planning of projects. The work went quickly and efficiently, on schedule and on budget. He has a good eye for detail - gets everything to line up just right. The entire process went very well. He was available for discussion leading up the final selection of the kitchen cupboards before the renovation started and offered suggestions e.g. floor options.Work was done with minimum inconvenience and was completed within the agreed deadline.

We were very happy with Don. He is low key and straightforward. He did all the things we asked of him, and figured out how make all the things we wanted to have in the kitchen work. He is meticulous, and gives a lot of attention to detail. Our architect told us we were lucky to work with someone who was so careful and concerned to do things right.

Rain delayed the job by a week but he stayed in touch to schedule an alternate date. Cleaned up job site daily and the fence looks great.Don also has performed repairs in our master bathroom with the same great results.

It was excellent! The replacement cupboards matched the existing cupboards in the kitchen wonderfully, the tile was done perfectly and by replacing the old outlets, the new outlets in white looked great with the tile. Countertops that were installed looked great with the existing cupboards and the new tile. Everything was done efficiently and professionally. Very neat and organized. Provided suggestions insofar as replacing the lighting in the kitchen over the counter to replace the hanging lights and what would work well. Don is very easy to work with and communicates well. This project came out even better than I had envisioned. My husband even acknowledged I was very lucky to have found Don available and we recommend him highly. Would call on him again in the future if we have any additional projects.

GREAT!! Mr. Evans's quote was much more reasonable than the others I had gotten. He is very easy to reach. He always returned my calls or e-mails. He installed the two new fans but more importantly, got up into my attic, found and fixed the problem that was preventing good airflow. The basement window required a lot of work, he took the info off of the window, found out that they no longer made the replacement part so he found a way to take out the glass and have it replaced!! The odd jobs around the house I asked him to do, he did without any problems at all. He showed up when he was supposed to. If he ran a few minutes behind, he called. I would not hesitate to call Mr. Evans for home improvement work again!!!

I replaced 3 old doors with nice birch wood doors with brushed nickel Don measured the doorway, all three were different sized in this older home, he chose the doors (called me before making decisions) and installed along with the hardware. They look awesome! Don has done several jobs for me and he's articulate with what he does. Anytime I ask Don for tips on how to do things, like staining the doors, he showed me how and told me exactly how to do it. The staining came out real good. Don is very resourceful and I will be asking him to do more for me in the future.

A sun porch was not completed by a previous owner. Don insulated the roof and walls, put bead board on the ceiling and wainscoting on the walls, and painted the bead board white. Installed a ceiling fan and finished off the window sills. Don was very prompt in arriving and leaving. He left the place as neat as possible when he left. When he was finished there was no mess to clean up.

I am writing this review now because I wrote one after Don finished his job here about a year ago and now I see that my review did not go through. So, I do not want the importunity to pass without letting everyone know what a great job he did on our basement bedroom. He was knowledgeable, perfectionist and his price was very reasonable. He was a joy to have around and taught my husband carpentry tactics at the same time. We are very grateful for him and will have him back again when we need help. Thank you Don, you are a good man :)

He has done many jobs for me including installing interior and exterior doors, tearing out and installing a new tub surround, counter top and back splash in a bathroom, installing baseboard, patching and fixing a hole in my ceiling. I have already hired Don for another job -- this one is installing a cabinets in my kitchen. I have been 100% happy.

I would like to say that Don Evans vented my bathroom fan through the roof, this was not done when I purchased my home. He was timely, efficient and friendly and the steam is not collecting in the bathroom the way it was. I will hire him on future projects and will recommend him to others.
